The fine line buildings on this Map were drawn by Roger Hall RIBA in the Architectural Heritage Year of 1975. They include Kneller Hall in Kensall Green, Forty House in Enfield and the 'old' Wembley with its iconic towers. Writers John Keats, Samuel Coleridge and George Eliot are celebrated; as is, begrudgingly (for an originator from Yorkshire), the MCC. Look out for several localised limericks. Amongst the dedications is one to a Mr Fisk, baker from Tottenham, who, instead of farthings, gave small history books as change.

Publication Essentials
Poster-sized and litho printed on quality card in numbered limited editions, this is one in a series of pre-1974 county area Maps. Designed for framing and to stimulate conversation, JL Carr created the Maps as a way to present an optimistic set of testimonials to our indigenous, daring and buoyant forbears and to hearten those Englishmen who hope for a rekindling of the spirit which has enlivened our nation through its chequered history. These architectural, historical, literary and pictorial curiosities are not to be used for navigation; except in the broadest of terms.Map Details
