"One of those books for the sake of which one finishes work early." - NDR Culture
East of England, late 80s: 18-year-old Hetty is about to graduate from school. She has big plans for the time after that: She wants to study literature, make something of her life!
In her petty-bourgeois home, she is met with little understanding – this is especially true for her choleric father. When she learns that she has been adopted, Hetty runs away. Her path leads her to Birmingham, where she wants to find her biological parents. She finds shelter in the boarding house of the eccentric Rose Gilpin-Jones. The helpful landlady supports her in her search for her true family. But Hetty soon realizes: It is not important where we come from, but where we want to go.

Any specific damage beyond age appropriate wear and tear will be listed in the item description.
