"One of the most remarkable men not only of England and of our generation, but of all countries and times" - Leo Tolstoy
One of the most influential Victorian era polymaths, John Ruskin was born in 1819. He studied at Oxford and wrote extensively on art, architecture, ecology and social reform. He founded the Guild of St George and in later life settled at Coniston in the Lake District, where he died in 1900.
A talented artist himself, this Pocket Book contains drawings by Ruskin (primarily from his Venice notebooks) and passages from his published letters, essays and critiques.
