Recently retrieved from the Quince Tree Press archives is this small cache of the extraordinary England & Wales Carr's Map. The Map was initially drawn by JL Carr whilst serving with the RAF in West Africa during WWII to remind him of home and gave rise to the later series of individual county Maps.
Utterly unique and staggeringly detailed; there is always something new to discover no matter how long it is studied
England & Wales
Publication Essentials
Designed for framing and to stimulate conversation, JL Carr created the Maps as a way to present an optimistic set of testimonials to our indigenous, daring and buoyant forbears and to hearten those Englishmen who hope for a rekindling of the spirit which has enlivened our nation through its chequered history. These architectural, historical, literary and pictorial curiosities are not to be used for navigation; except in the broadest of terms.

Special Editions
By virtue of their very nature some of our Special Editions are in vintage condition. For signed Maps this may mean the corners have been slightly bent or there is some minor discolouration along the edge; any issues should be resolved when the Map is mounted and framed. Early edition Pocket Books may have minor marks to the cover or edges; they could be considered ‘very good’ second-hand condition. Any specific damage beyond age appropriate wear and tear will be listed in the item description.
