"For Latin verses there was no man would come into competition with him" - John Aubrey
Now considered to be one of the best Metaphysical poets, Marvell was born in 1621 and educated at Cambridge. He was an MP in the interregnum period and re-elected after the Restoration; his time in politics fuelling satirical verse compared to the love-songs of his youth. He died in 1678.
Five poems by Marvell are printed within this Pocket Book, including To His Coy Mistress, Cromwell's Return from Ireland and Upon Appleton House.
Unfortuntely, the binding staples have rusted and affected the centre page; the remainder of the publication is undamaged.
